Canara Bank has unveiled a leadership move aimed at strengthening its governance framework, naming its Group Chief Compliance Officer as a key internal appointment. The bank announced that Sujit Kumar Sahoo, who has been serving as Chief General Manager and Interim Group Chief Compliance Officer in the Compliance & RBS Wing at its Head Office in Bengaluru, has been designated as the Group Chief Compliance Officer for a term of three years, effective from July 1, 2026.
A veteran with more than 29 years in banking, Sahoo holds an MBA and a Diploma in Treasury, Investment and Risk Management, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. His career spans from branch levels to head office, across eight states and from rural to metro environments. He has headed the Ranchi Circle Office and overseen three Regional Offices at Madurai, Chennai and Sambalpur, and is currently steering the Compliance & RBS Wing at Canara Bank’s Bengaluru headquarters.
The internal elevation underscores the bank’s focus on robust governance and risk management as it entrusts the GCCO role to a seasoned executive who has already led the bank’s compliance agendas across multiple geographies and functions.
