Shilpa Medicare names Uday N. Harle as CEO of Shilpa Biologicals Private Limited

Shilpa Medicare Limited has appointed Uday N. Harle as Chief Executive Officer of Shilpa Biologicals Private Limited, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, with effect from August 3, 2026. The move marks a strategic step as the group deepens its focus on biologics and biosimilars, placing a highly experienced biopharma executive at the helm of the subsidiary’s next growth phase.

Harle arrives with roughly 24 years in the global biopharmaceutical arena, including over 18 years dedicated to biologics and biosimilars. His career spans leadership roles across research and development, clinical development, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and commercialization, with a track record of steering large-scale programs from research through regulatory approvals to market. In recent roles, he served as Chief Business Officer at Artemis Medicare Services Limited and Premedium Pharma (Apollo Group), and prior positions included Global Head of Clinical Development at Amneal Group/Kashiv Biosciences, Global Head of Clinical Development at Abbott, and R&D leadership at Ferring Pharmaceuticals. His experience also encompasses senior assignments at Bharat Serums & Vaccines and Sun Pharma, among others.

Harle brings a global regulatory perspective, having liaised with agencies such as the US FDA, EMA, MHRA, Health Canada, and CDSCO. He has contributed to the development of more than 10 biosimilars and over five novel biologics, including multiple IND and BLA submissions. His scholarly footprint—about 40 scientific publications, two books, and two patents—complements a career steeped in portfolio strategy, CMC, regulatory approvals, and partnerships with CDMOs. This breadth positions him to guide Shilpa Biologicals through an ambitious biologics and biosimilars roadmap while aligning scientific excellence with commercial imperatives.

The appointment signals an intent to accelerate Shilpa Medicare’s evolution beyond traditional generics, leveraging Harle’s deep expertise to bolster the subsidiary’s development pipeline, regulatory navigation, and market strategy. As the group doubles down on biologics-led growth, leadership moves like this underscore a broader industry push toward integrated biologics programs and global health scale.
