Metro Brands Limited reappoints Farah Malik Bhanji as Managing Director for five-year term

Metro Brands Limited has announced the continuation of its leadership with the re-appointment of Farah Malik Bhanji as Managing Director for a five-year term, effective from April 1, 2027. The decision, approved at the company’s 49th Annual General Meeting held on September 16, 2026, reinforces a steady hand at the helm of the retail group as it navigates a rapidly evolving market landscape.

Ms. Bhanji currently serves as the Managing Director on the Board and brings more than two decades of retail experience to the forefront. An alumna of the University of Texas at Austin and a participant in the Owner/President Program at Harvard Business School, she has steered Metro Brands through a period of transformative growth. Under her leadership, the company expanded its store network from around 100 stores in 2010 to over 1,000 across India, while prioritizing technology-driven decision-making and AI-enabled initiatives to sharpen competitive edge and operational efficiency.

Her tenure has been marked by a robust emphasis on vendor relationships—cultivating ties with a vendor base of over 250—and a commitment to building an environment that supports professional growth for employees. The announcement also notes family connections within Metro Brands, with Ms. Bhanji being the daughter of Rafique Abdul Malik, the Chairman, and sister of Alisha Rafique Malik, Whole-Time Director. The company confirmed that Ms. Bhanji is not debarred from holding the office of Director by SEBI or other authorities.

As Metro Brands plots its next chapter in the competitive footwear retail space, the reaffirmation of its executive leadership signals continuity and a clear throughline for strategic initiatives—from store expansion and data-driven operations to technology adoption and vendor collaboration.
