Laurus Labs Appoints Two Independent Directors as Aruna Bhinge Retires

Laurus Labs Limited announced a governance refresh as it reshapes its board with the addition of two independent directors and the retirement of a long-serving member. In a move slated to strengthen independent oversight, Dr. Shekhar Chintamani Mande and Sutapa Banerjee will join Laurus’s board as Independent Directors for a five-year term from July 2, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. Simultaneously, Aruna Bhinge is set to retire from the board at the close of business on July 6, 2026, after completing her second term.

Dr. Shekhar Chintamani Mande is a distinguished structural and computational biologist known for leading scientific institutions in India. With a track record as Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), he has deep experience at the intersection of science and policy. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the board of Tata Steel and brings a pedigree in research leadership and strategic governance that Laurus aims to leverage as it navigates growth and innovation.

Ms. Sutapa Banerjee brings a rich background in wealth management and financial services, having steered Ambit Private Wealth as CEO and earned recognition across global financial services roles. Her board experience spans Eternal Limited, Godrej Properties, Polycab India, JSW Cement, Axis Capital, and Ideaforge Technology, among others. Her governance and strategic insights from both corporate and investment contexts are expected to complement Laurus’s ambitions as it expands its portfolio and scale.

Aruna Bhinge’s retirement marks the end of an era for Laurus’s independent oversight, following the completion of her second term as Independent Director.
