National Fertilizers Limited has named Kuntal Sensarma as an Additional Director on its Board, designated as Government Nominee Director, with effect from 17 April 2026. He steps into the role succeeding Prathibha A. in a move that aligns with the company’s governance framework and the government’s ongoing oversight of strategic PSUs in the fertilizers sector.
Sensarma brings a robust public-policy and macroeconomic background. Born in December 1967, he holds an Economics (Honours) degree from Presidency College and a Master’s in Public Policy & Sustainable Development from TERI University, complemented by a Management Development Programme in Public Administration from the Indian Institute of Public Administration. An Indian Economic Service officer from the 1995 batch, he is currently serving as Senior Economic Adviser in the Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India.
Throughout his career, Sensarma has held senior roles across multiple ministries, including the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, the Ministry of Electronics & IT, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, and the Department of Rural Development. He also holds additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director on the boards of Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited and Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited. His broad exposure to policy formulation and industry coordination is expected to inform NFL’s strategic governance as it pursues its Navratna mandate and growth agenda.
The appointment is for a period of three years from the effective date, or until further notice, whichever comes earlier, underscoring NFL’s emphasis on collaborative governance with government nominees to steer policy-aligned growth in the fertilizer sector.
