Ircon International names Suman Bala as Independent Non-Executive Director to bolster board governance

Ircon International Limited has appointed Suman Bala as an Independent (Non-official Part-Time) Director to its Board, with effect from August 17, 2026. The move, approved by the Board, aligns with Ircon’s ongoing governance enhancement as it strengthens its independent oversight framework.

Suman Bala, aged 50, brings a frontline governance background to the table. A Graduate in Commerce from the University of Delhi, she has served as the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, under the Government of Haryana, where she led urban governance, public administration and institutional management. Her experience spans strategic decision-making, stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination—expertise that Ircon’s board hopes will translate into robust governance, civic leadership insights and effective public-service delivery within a corporate setting. The appointment is for a three-year term, in line with the Ministry of Railways order issued on August 13, 2026.

This addition underscores Ircon’s emphasis on independent governance and external perspective at the board level. By welcoming a leader with substantial public-sector governance experience, the company signals a commitment to enhanced oversight, strategic oversight capabilities, and a broader view on policy execution and public accountability as it steers large-scale infrastructure projects.
