In a move that underscores internal succession at Union Bank of India, Bhaskara Rao Chaganti Venkata Naga has been elevated from General Manager to Chief General Manager, with effect from July 1, 2026.
A commerce postgraduate with an MBA and CAIIB qualifications, Naga has previously served as a Zonal Head, has worked across MSME initiatives, and is presently overseeing the bank’s Stress Asset Management vertical from the Central Office in Mumbai. The promotion reflects a deepening of leadership within the bank’s risk and asset management framework as it charts its next phase.
Industry observers say the elevation signals Union Bank’s emphasis on strengthening asset quality and risk controls while continuing to cultivate leadership from within. By promoting from the ranks, the bank aims to maintain continuity in its strategic priorities even as it navigates a dynamic credit environment.
The move adds to the bank’s leadership bench at a time when stability and a focused approach to stressed assets and MSME lending are seen as critical levers for sustained performance. Union Bank of India appears intent on pairing seasoned internal talent with the strategic responsibilities needed to guide its next chapter.
