Mumbai’s Tata Capital Limited has signaled continuity in governance with a strategic re-appointment that sits at the heart of its risk and regulatory architecture. In a board meeting on July 28, 2026, the company approved the re-appointment of Sarita Kamath as Chief Compliance Officer for a further three-year term, effective October 1, 2026. The decision, taken in line with RBI expectations for NBFCs, underscores the board’s commitment to a durable, hands-on compliance function as the group scales its financial services play.
Kamath’s tenure with Tata Capital stretches back to 2009, and her experience spans legal, compliance and secretarial duties. She holds a commerce degree and law qualifications from the University of Mumbai and is an associate member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. The leadership profile reflects a build of in-house governance capability, with Kamath previously linked to Tata Services before joining the group, adding to the continuity of governance as the company navigates a high-growth phase.
Beyond the CCO appointment, Tata Capital’s board also charts a growth path that includes strategic moves such as pursuing Yogloans for acquisition and managing IPO proceeds, reflecting a broader governance lens as the company expands its NBFC footprint. In this context, the re-appointment of Kamath is a signal that the company intends to keep compliance at the center of its expansion, ensuring that risk, controls and regulatory integrity keep pace with growth under the leadership of managing director and chief executive Rajiv Sabharwal.
