State Bank of India has appointed Sunil Ramgopal Agrawal as Chief Financial Officer (Designate), with effect from 15 July 2026. He will be designated as a Key Managerial Person from 1 August 2026, as the bank strengthens its finance leadership to navigate a dynamic financial landscape. The appointment underscores SBI’s ongoing focus on building a robust financial governance framework and sustaining growth through disciplined financial management.
Agrawal arrives at SBI after a career spanning more than 27 years in financial services and strategy, most recently serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). In that role, he led efforts to strengthen the finance function, drive strategic initiatives, and oversee engagements with boards, regulators, investors and other key stakeholders, all in support of LIC’s growth and transformation agenda. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a B.E. in Computer Science, credentials that align with SBI’s emphasis on rigorous financial planning, reporting and governance.
With a background that blends financial planning, capital management, investor relations and regulatory governance, Agrawal is poised to bring a seasoned perspective to SBI’s finance function.
