In a leadership reshuffle that underlines Jindal Steel Limited’s push to sharpen its executive bench, the company announced on July 24, 2026 that Vidya Rattan Sharma will be appointed as Additional Director and Managing Director for a two-year term, subject to shareholders’ approval. Sharma brings four decades of international leadership across the steel, power, metal and cement sectors, and has previously steered Jindal Steel Limited as its Managing Director from 2019 to 2022, after a prior tenure as Deputy Managing Director & CEO. He also led the AK Steel/KTM Group across the UAE, Africa and India between 2014 and 2019, underscoring a track record of global-scale operations and strategic turnarounds that the board hopes will guide the company through its next phase of growth.
The board also announced a refreshed finance leadership, naming Sandeep Modi as Chief Financial Officer, effective July 24, 2026. Modi is described as a seasoned finance leader with two decades of experience in metals, mining and power, including a recent stint as CFO of Hindustan Zinc Limited. He succeeds the interim CFO role previously held by Sunil Agrawal, who will step aside from the CFO position while continuing to oversee the finance function.
In a move aimed at strengthening operational execution, Rajiv Kumar was appointed Chief Operating Officer (Senior Management Personnel) from July 24, 2026. A metallurgical engineer with more than 35 years in the steel industry, Kumar arrives after leading as CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, with prior long-tenured roles at Tata Steel including Vice President – Operations at Kalinganagar. His mandate centers on driving production excellence and scaling up the company’s integrated manufacturing footprint.
The leadership slate also includes Sukhjit S. Pasricha as Head – Human Resources (Senior Management Personnel), effective July 24, 2026. Pasricha brings roughly 30 years of HR leadership experience, with recent roles such as Group CHRO at IndiGo, where he built talent strategies and workforce models to support rapid growth. Together, these appointments reflect Jindal Steel Limited’s emphasis on strategic finance, robust operations, and people capabilities as it pursues its steel-making ambitions.
