Jagran Prakashan Signals Leadership Continuity as Four Whole-Time Directors Are Reappointed; Non-Executive Director Mahendra Mohan Gupta to Extend Tenure

Jagran Prakashan Limited signaled a clear handoff to continuity at the top as its 50th Annual General Meeting approved a renewed slate of leadership for the coming five years. The company announced that four Whole-time Directors have been re-appointed for a five-year term from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2031, while the promoter-led group also secured continuation of Mahendra Mohan Gupta as a Non-Executive Director not liable to retire by rotation for the same period. The AGM was conducted via video conferencing and other audio-visual means.

The re-appointments center on a trusted quartet of executive directors. Dhirendra Mohan Gupta, aged 82, brings more than six decades of experience in the print media sector and is described as a promoter of the company with a long-standing director tenure since inception. Sunil Gupta, 64, holds a commerce background with a master’s degree and boasts over 40 years in the print media landscape, also a long-time promoter-linked director since 1993. Sanjay Gupta, 63, with a science background and over 40 years in print media, is another promoter-director continuing his leadership role, and is not liable to retire by rotation. Shailesh Gupta, 57, a commerce graduate with around 35 years in the industry, is a promoter group member and son of a prominent family member in the business, also continuing as a director beyond 2031 and not liable to retire by rotation.

In addition to the executive slate, the company confirmed the continuation of Mahendra Mohan Gupta, 85, as Non-Executive Director not liable to retire by rotation for five more years, from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2031. A veteran promoter with more than six decades in print media, he remains a central figure in Jagran Prakashan’s governance, with family ties underscored in the boardroom by his roles and relationships across the promoter line.

Taken together, the moves signal stability and governance continuity for Jagran Prakashan as it navigates a media landscape that remains crowded and rapidly evolving. The mix of executive and non-executive continuity reflects a deliberate strategy to preserve institutional memory while maintaining a governance framework anchored by promoter leadership.
