Info Edge (India) Limited is pivoting to a leadership transition that blends continuity with renewed execution. In a move approved by the board, Hitesh Oberoi will step down from his long-running role as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at the close of business on December 2, 2026, after nearly 27 years with the company. Oberoi will then transition to a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director position under the Promoter Category, to take effect from December 3, 2026, subject to shareholders’ approval. The board underscored Oberoi’s enduring value to the group, acknowledging his deep institutional knowledge as Info Edge steers into its next growth phase while he pursues personal interests beyond the full-time operating role.
Parallel to this transition, Sanjeev Bikhchandani—Info Edge’s founder and Vice Chairman—was appointed and re-designated as Executive Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer. The expanded role, effective December 3, 2026, will run until April 26, 2031 and is co-terminus with his existing term, subject to shareholder approval. Notably, Bikhchandani will not be liable to retire by rotation, aligning leadership continuity with the company’s long-term vision as it scales across its diverse portfolio.
The leadership reshuffle places two long-tenured leaders at the helm of a company that has built a multi-brand platform—from Naukri’s core AI-enabled recruitment engine to 99acres, Jeevansathi, Shiksha and beyond. Oberoi’s exit from the operating frontline signals a strategic cadence for Info Edge, while Bikhchandani’s broadened remit aims to fuse founder-driven vision with institutional strength. Chairmen Kapil Kapoor and Sanjeev Bikhchandani lauded the transition as a thoughtful evolution, emphasizing that the company’s leadership pipeline and culture will be essential as Info Edge navigates its next phase and continues to back India’s startup ecosystem from a strengthened civic and investor stance.
