Britannia Industries Limited has quietly elevated a long-serving internal talent to a senior procurement post, signaling a steady hand at the heart of its manufacturing engine. Shailesh Kumar has been promoted from General Manager – Procurement to Vice President – Procurement, with effect from April 1, 2026, after the Nomination and Remuneration Committee recommended the move and the Board approved it via a circular resolution on June 30, 2026. The development underscores Britannia’s emphasis on continuity and depth within its procurement leadership as it navigates a dynamic FMCG landscape.
Kumar brings a deep reservoir of experience to the role, with around 19 years in the FMCG sector and more than 14 years with Britannia itself. He has held a spectrum of positions across Britannia’s procurement function and has been the company’s General Manager – Procurement prior to this elevation. Before joining Britannia, Kumar served as Purchase Manager at ITC Limited, enriching his perspective across the supply chain. He holds an MBA from MANAGE, Hyderabad, equipping him with a blend of strategic and operational insights that Britannia is betting will translate into stronger sourcing, cost discipline, and supplier collaboration.
The move reinforces a growing narrative around internal leadership development at Britannia, placing a seasoned procurement executive at the helm of a function that remains crucial to the company’s margin and product availability. As consumer demand and supply dynamics continue to evolve, Kumar’s extended tenure with Britannia and his background across the procurement spectrum position him to shepherd the function through ongoing optimization, risk management, and strategic partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders alike.
