Bank of Maharashtra names Sushanta Mohanty as Executive Director

Bank of Maharashtra has announced the appointment of Sushanta Kumar Mohanty as Executive Director on its Board, with effect from 15 April 2026 for a period of three years, or until further orders. The bank’s communication notes that Mohanty, who is currently Chief General Manager at Bank of Baroda, has been appointed by the Central Government to join Bank of Maharashtra as Executive Director on the Board, marking a leadership upgrade intended to bolster the bank’s strategic capabilities.

Mohanty, aged 56, holds a B.Sc. and CAIIB and brings over three decades of banking experience. He began his career as a Probationary Officer with Bank of Baroda and has since held a range of leadership roles, including Zonal Head, Regional Head, Branch Head, and Head of International Banking Credit & Liabilities Management, with domestic postings and an international stint in New York. He has also served as Director at Baroda U.P. Gramin Bank and at FIMMDA. His areas of expertise span Treasury Operations, international banking, liabilities management, retail and corporate banking operations, and Forex management.

In terms of governance, Mohanty is reported to have no disclosed relationship with any of the bank’s existing directors, and he is not debarred from holding office by any regulator. His appointment signals Bank of Maharashtra’s intent to enrich its executive leadership with a veteran banker who has deep experience in treasury and international banking functions, positioning the lender to navigate a dynamic financial landscape.
