Bajaj Electricals: Shekhar Bajaj to step down as Executive Chairman and Executive Director, remain on board as non-exec director

In a move signaling a planned evolution of Bajaj Electricals’ leadership and governance, Shekhar Bajaj has tendered his resignation from the roles of Executive Chairman and Whole-time/Executive Director, with effect from the close of business on December 31, 2026. The notice is framed as part of a deliberate succession plan, aimed at transitioning the company’s leadership while preserving governance continuity.

Subject to requisite approvals, Bajaj will continue serving the board as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director from January 1, 2027. The arrangement underscores a staged transition that keeps his strategic guidance available while enabling fresh leadership to steer the company in the next phase.

The letter also notes a request to waive the unserved portion of the notice period and reiterates that the cessation pertains solely to the executive positions, not to his directorship. In his communications, Bajaj expresses gratitude to colleagues across the board, management, and employees for their support during his executive tenure.

Bajaj Electricals’ leadership move arrives at a time when the group has been focusing on succession and governance evolution. While the company maps its next chapter, the transition promises stability at the boardroom level even as it rethinks the top executive layer to sustain momentum across its businesses.
