Bajaj Auto Limited has announced a board-level leadership move, informing shareholders that its directors have approved the appointment of Pallavi Joshi Bakhru as a Non-Executive Independent Director for a first five-year term, effective from January 1, 2027, subject to the approval of the shareholders. The decision was taken at a board meeting held on October 27, 2026, following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. The company notes that this appointment aligns with its governance framework and will be disclosed on the company website in line with regulatory requirements.
Ms. Pallavi Joshi Bakhru currently leads the Family Office and Private Client Services practice at Grant Thornton Bharat, bringing more than three decades of experience spanning corporate tax, litigation (including international arbitration under BIT), tax structuring, and FEMA-related regulatory matters. Her earlier leadership roles and recognition include being named among the Top 10 Women in Tax in India by the International Tax Review in 2015. She is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has served as an Independent/Non-executive Director on multiple boards, including Vedanta Limited, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Gabriel India Limited, and Neuland Laboratories Limited.
The appointment adds an external perspective to Bajaj Auto’s governance, anchored by deep tax and regulatory expertise, and experience advising promoters, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals. With a long track record in corporate governance and cross-border advisory work, Bakhru’s independent director role is poised to contribute to strategic oversight, risk management, and board effectiveness as the company navigates growth and transformation in a dynamic automotive landscape.
