Agro Phos India Limited has named Sakina Dharwala as a Non-Executive Independent Director, effective July 11, 2026, for a five-year term, subject to the approval of the shareholders. The appointment, recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and approved by the Board, signals a deliberate push to strengthen the company’s governance framework with independent oversight at the board level.
Dharwala is described as a qualified Company Secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, bringing more than seven years of experience in corporate law, secretarial compliance, corporate governance and regulatory affairs. Her background includes exposure to corporate restructurings, mergers and regulatory filings with authorities such as MCA, RBI and RERA. At present, she serves as the Company Secretary at Brilliant Estates Limited, where she has managed matters spanning fast-track mergers, buy-backs, entity conversions and various statutory and regulatory compliances. The company notes she is not related to any current director and is not debarred from holding office as a director.
The move underscores Agro Phos India Limited’s ongoing emphasis on robust governance practices as it strengthens its board with independent expertise. Dharwala’s wide exposure to governance, regulatory compliance and corporate restructurings is positioned to support the company’s strategic decisions while maintaining board-level independence and accountability. Stakeholders will be watching to see how this addition informs the company’s oversight as it advances its board agenda in the coming years.
