Power Grid assigns CMD Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan an additional charge as Director (Projects) for 3 months

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has announced that its Chairman & Managing Director, Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan, has been entrusted with an additional charge for the post of Director (Projects) of Power Grid for a period of three months, starting 1 April 2026, or until the regular incumbent takes over the charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The arrangement follows a Ministry of Power order dated 6 April 2026.

This internal leadership move underscores a focus on ensuring continuity and strong oversight of the company’s project portfolio, a core pillar of Power Grid’s mandate as the nation’s grid backbone. By extending the CMD’s remit to include the Director (Projects) role on a temporary basis, the company signals a priority on project execution and strategic coordination across its transmission initiatives.

Industry watchers may view the measure as a pragmatic step to maintain momentum on large-scale infrastructure programs while the organization navigates leadership dynamics and project deadlines. The three-month window (or until the regular incumbent assumes the role, or until further orders) keeps the arrangement clearly time-bound, with governance structures remaining intact and the broader leadership landscape unchanged.

Power Grid continues to lead on grid expansion and reliability, leveraging its expanded leadership scope to align project delivery with the grid’s long-term growth trajectory.
