Cipla appoints Vikram Janakiraman as Global Chief Technical Operating Officer

Cipla Limited’s board has approved the appointment of Vikram Janakiraman as the Global Chief Technical Operating Officer, designated as Senior Management Personnel, with effect from 7 December 2026. The move marks a high-profile addition to Cipla’s leadership team as it sharpens its focus on manufacturing excellence and scalable technical operations.

Janakiraman brings nearly 30 years of experience spanning consulting leadership and pharmaceutical operations. He joins Cipla from the Boston Consulting Group, where he served as Managing Director and Senior Partner, building BCG India’s Pharma Operations and Automotive practices and leading the Operations and Industrial Goods practices. He also contributed to the firm’s Manufacturing AI and Industry 4.0 offerings and advised Indian and multinational firms on plant operations, quality systems, new product development, supply chain improvements, and cost management.

Prior to BCG, he held leadership roles at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, overseeing Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement and Capital Projects globally. During that tenure, he drove significant operational improvements, designed and constructed new facilities, and supported inspections and audits by global regulatory authorities including the US FDA, MHRA and ANVISA.

This leadership move signals Cipla’s commitment to strengthening global operations and digitally-enabled manufacturing capabilities, underscoring a strategic push to enhance efficiency, quality, and scale across its technical and production functions.
