Vipul Singhal appointed Non-Executive Director at Shipping Corporation of India

Shipping Corporation of India Limited has named Vipul Singhal as a Non-Executive Director on its board, with effect from September 25, 2026. The appointment marks another step in SCI’s governance roster as it continues to align board leadership with evolving policy and operational priorities in the maritime and logistics space.

Vipul Singhal hails from the Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) of the 2008 batch. He holds a B.Tech in Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture from IIT Kharagpur and is presently serving as Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW). His career spans more than 17 years across logistics, transport and railways, covering passenger and freight operations, safety, and the planning needed to remove bottlenecks in infrastructure for more efficient transport solutions. His background also includes policy development work in passenger marketing, including digital ticketing initiatives and fare-related considerations.

In addition to his current portfolio, Singhal has engaged in policy formulation roles in the Ministry of Railways, which could enrich SCI’s governance perspective as it navigates the complex interface of shipping, ports and inland logistics. His exposure to cross-modal policy initiatives and digital-ticketing experience could inform strategic discussions on route optimization, operational efficiency, and customer-centric service delivery at SCI.

This appointment underscores SCI’s ongoing emphasis on governance that blends sectoral policy insight with frontline logistics expertise. As a Part-Time Government Nominee Director, Singhal’s presence on the board signals a continuity of public-private collaboration in steering the company through a dynamic maritime and logistics landscape.
