Tata Communications appoints Narottam Sharma as Chief Transformation Officer to steer digital overhaul

Tata Communications has appointed Narottam Sharma as Executive Vice President & Chief Transformation Officer, with the new role taking effect on September 21, 2026. The move, approved by the board on the strength of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation, positions Sharma to anchor the company’s next phase of digital transformation and AI-led operating-model redesign. He will be a member of the Global Management Committee, underscoring the strategic weight of the post as Tata Communications charts its technology-forward growth trajectory.

Sharma brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise-wide transformation across core business operations, supply chain and corporate functions. He currently serves as Chief Information Officer at Jubilant FoodWorks, where he has bridged strategy and execution to simplify processes, optimize capital and operating expenditure, and deliver recurring bottom-line improvements without stifling innovation. His earlier stints at Mastek and Sterlite include leading multi-track transformation programs, implementing ServiceNow for customer service management and internal workflows, and driving ambitions to enable 10x growth at a legacy technology-led enterprise.

Commenting on the appointment, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, MD & CEO of Tata Communications, said the company was pleased to welcome Sharma to the leadership team, highlighting his track record in large-scale transformations and his ability to translate technology into tangible business outcomes. Sharma himself said he looked forward to working with Tata Communications’ teams to advance the technology vision, strengthen engineering capabilities, and accelerate innovation for customers and stakeholders. The company’s communications leadership emphasises that Sharma’s mandate will accelerate the next phase of growth for a global digital ecosystem enabler with a footprint in more than 190 countries.
