Avenue Supermarts Limited is reshaping its leadership slate with a trio of moves designed to sharpen execution at the retailer behind DMart. In a board meeting held on July 11, 2026, the company approved the re-appointment of Bhaskaran N as Whole-time Director, designated as Chief Operating Officer, for a term from October 17, 2026, to May 31, 2028, subject to shareholder approval. Separately, Lalit Ahuja was appointed as Chief Operating Officer, Senior Management Personnel, with effect from July 13, 2026, signaling an expansion of on-ground leadership for its operations. In another realignment, Parvez Vandrewala will transition from Chief Operating Officer to Head – Centre of Excellence, effective November 1, 2026, while continuing as Senior Managerial Personnel.
Bhaskaran N contributes a long arc of experience across corporate secretarial functions, operations, supply chain and HR, with more than three decades in the business. His educational credentials include a Commerce degree from the University of Madras, an XLRI postgraduate in Human Resource Management, and an advanced program in Supply Chain Management from IIM Calcutta. Since joining Avenue in 2008, he has been central to HR, staples business development and retail operations, advancing the company’s organizational backbone from within.
Lalit Ahuja arrives with a rich, multi-sector pedigree spanning Philips India, General Mills, Dabur, Godrej Consumer Products, Mars and Apple, and most recently a long tenure at Zydus Wellness as Senior Vice President (Sales) and Sub-Continent Head. An electronics graduate from Delhi University and an IIM Bangalore alumnus, Ahuja is positioned to bring a diverse commercial lens to Avenue’s COO role as the firm scales its omnichannel footprint and consumer reach.
Parvez Vandrewala’s shift to Head – Centre of Excellence marks a strategic pivot in the firm’s internal capability buildout. While he remains a Senior Managerial Personnel, the new designation underscores Avenue’s emphasis on elevating functional excellence and cross-functional collaboration as it sharpens its execution engine across stores, supply chain and customer experience.
