Susanta Kumar Purohit appointed Non-Executive Director at Dredging Corporation of India

Dredging Corporation of India Limited has appointed Susanta Kumar Purohit as a Non-Executive Director, with effect from 14 September 2026. The company says he joins as an Additional Director (Promoter – Non-Executive & Non‑independent), a tenure that will continue up to the next Annual General Meeting or until further orders, whichever is earlier, subject to requisite approvals. The announcement underscores a governance move aimed at infusing public-sector leadership experience into the company’s boardroom mix.

Susanta Kumar Purohit is an Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) veteran who currently serves as Chairperson of Paradip Port Authority and continues his leadership there alongside his broader public-sector roles. A 1996-batch officer, his career spans senior positions across Indian Railways, the Ministry of Power, the Government of Odisha, and the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, where he was involved in policy formulation, infrastructure development, and public administration. He has also led the Port authorities of V.O. Chidambaranar and Paradip, bringing a track record of infrastructure upgrades, operational modernization, and sustainability-oriented initiatives.

The appointment places a high-profile public-sector governance voice on DCI’s board, a signal of the company’s intent to leverage cross-sector experience in steering strategic initiatives, governance, and capacity building. While continuing his responsibilities as Chairperson of the Paradip Port Authority, Purohit’s broader leadership portfolio is expected to influence DCI’s approach to infrastructure connectivity, cargo handling modernization, and green port initiatives as the company charts its next phase of growth in India’s maritime economy.
