In a move signaling a planned leadership handover, Saurashtra Cement Limited announced that its board has approved appointing Anurag Tiwari as Managing Director Designate, with effect from 16 October 2026. The designation marks a formal step in the company’s ongoing succession planning and leadership transition as it charts the next phase of growth in a competitive cement landscape.
Tiwari comes to the role with close to three decades of experience spanning across industrials and energy sectors. His career includes senior responsibilities at L&T, Siemens, UltraTech Cement (Aditya Birla Group), Vedanta, and the SAR Group (Livguard). He is an IIT Roorkee–trained mechanical engineer and an IIM Bangalore PGP alumnus, and has held senior positions such as Plant Head, COO, Group President, and Executive Director, illustrating a track record of leadership across operations and strategic transformation.
The company’s disclosure highlights that his transformation initiatives have typically blended technical innovation with cost discipline, talent development and ESG prioritization—traits the board may be hoping to deploy as SCL pursues efficiency and profitability improvements. While the formal appointment is framed as a transition arrangement, the move underscores the board’s emphasis on steady, expert leadership to navigate the next chapter for Saurashtra Cement.
As SCL positions itself for enhanced execution in a dynamic market, the MD-designate’s broad exposure across cement, motors and energy sectors—coupled with an emphasis on turning around underperforming operations to drive profitability—could shape strategies focused on disciplined growth, operational excellence and sustainability.
