RITES approves re-appointment of Rahul Mithal as Chairman & MD/CEO through 2027, subject to AGM

In a move signaling continuity at the helm, RITES Limited disclosed that its Board has approved the re-appointment of Rahul Mithal as Chairman & Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The decision extends his tenure beyond October 6, 2026 (effective October 7, 2026) up to June 30, 2027, or until further orders, subject to the approval of shareholders at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting.

Rahul Mithal, who has been at the helm since October 2021, is an Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers (SCRA 1985 Batch) veteran. He also holds an MBA in Finance from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (UK) as well as a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council (UK). His career includes a tenure as Functional Director on the Board of Container Corporation of India Limited (2017–2021), where he led Projects & Services, and he currently chairs REMC Ltd., a subsidiary of RITES.

The board’s decision underscores a commitment to leadership continuity as RITES navigates its rail infrastructure agenda. The confirmation comes as the company awaits shareholder backing at the AGM, reinforcing Mithal’s mandate to steer the organization through its strategic projects and growth initiatives as it remains a pivotal player in India’s rail ecosystem.
