Raymond appoints Bhanu Prakash Srivastava as CEO of Defense Business, signaling a sharpened defense strategy

Raymond Limited has appointed Bhanu Prakash Srivastava as Chief Executive Officer for its Defense Business, effective July 6, 2026, signaling a strategic pivot to strengthen the company’s footprint in the defense sector. The move places the leadership of a critical growth division in the hands of an veteran executive as Raymond seeks to expand its engineering capabilities and project execution in government and military programs.

Srivastava brings more than four decades of experience from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), where he held a spectrum of senior roles spanning manufacturing, project management, quality, materials management, design and development, and product support. He also served as Chairman and Managing Director at BEL from 2022 to 2024, overseeing initiatives across a range of defense technologies including radars for Army, Air Force and Navy, naval fire control and sonar systems, and C4I systems for civil and military applications. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-BHU (1986 batch) and a Master of Business Administration.

Industry observers note that the appointment could help Raymond accelerate its defense offerings by leveraging Srivastava’s deep domain knowledge in defense electronics, naval systems, and complex weapons programs. If he translates BEL’s program-driven approach and profitability mindset to Raymond’s defense portfolio, the unit could see enhanced project execution, stronger manufacturing discipline, and a more integrated approach to defense solutions for both domestic and potential international collaborations. The leadership transition arrives at a time when the company is sharpening its strategy around defense capabilities while building on its broader product and market ambitions.
