Rama Phosphates Names Ratneshwar Prasad to Second Term as Independent Director

Rama Phosphates Limited has announced the re-appointment of Ratneshwar Prasad as an Independent Director for a second five-year term, effective from May 30, 2026 to May 29, 2031. The decision, taken by the board, was executed through a postal ballot, with remote e-voting closing on April 1, 2026 and the chairman declaring the results on April 2, 2026. The move underscores governance continuity as the company navigates its growth and regulatory landscape.

Ratneshwar Prasad brings a distinguished 38-year track record across taxation, law, competition law and international taxation. He began his career with the Indian Revenue Service in 1970 after clearing the Civil Services Examination in 1969, rising through roles to Commissioner, Chief Commissioner and ultimately Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). During his tenure with the IRS, he oversaw revenue augmentation, policy planning and adjudication, among other functions, and he later joined the Competition Commission of India as a founding member after retirement.

This appointment signals Rama Phosphates’ emphasis on governance and strategic expertise at the board level. An independent director with experience in tax policy and regulation can contribute to robust oversight of risk management, regulatory alignment and strategic planning as the company pursues its growth agenda. The company notes that the appointment is a re-appointment, reinforcing a commitment to continuity at the board without indicating other changes at this time.
