PTC India Limited has announced a leadership move that underscores a broader governance shift underway at the company. In a board meeting held on 16 April 2026, the board appointed Sh. Sukhdev Singh as Non-Executive Chairman. The appointment will take effect from the date of receipt of consent from the chairmen or managing directors of the company’s four promoter entities and will run for the duration of Singh’s remaining Independent Director tenure, ending on 10 November 2028.
Sh. Sukhdev Singh, aged 62, is an Indian Administrative Service (Retd.) officer from the 1987 batch. He holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (1986) and completed a long career spanning nearly 37 years across the states of Bihar and Jharkhand. Notably, he served as Chief Secretary of Jharkhand for nearly four years and has held senior roles across multiple departments, including Home, Welfare, Finance, and Public Infrastructure. The company notes that Singh is not related to any director and is not debarred from holding office by SEBI or other authorities.
This move aligns with PTC India’s earlier decision to bifurcate the combined role of Chairman & Managing Director into two distinct posts—Chairman (Non-Executive) and Managing Director (Executive). By designating Singh as Non-Executive Chairman, the board signals a focus on governance and oversight as it steers the company through the evolving landscape of its promoter-led structure. Industry observers will be watching how this leadership configuration translates into strategy, stakeholder engagement, and long-term performance for a company that sits at a critical junction in India’s power trading ecosystem.
