Tata Communications has tapped Narottam Sharma to lead the company’s transformation agenda, naming him Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer with effect from September 21, 2026. The appointment, approved by the board on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, will place Sharma on the company’s Global Management Committee as the business and technology leaders recalibrate for the next phase of growth.
Sharma arrives at Tata Communications after serving as Chief Information Officer at Jubilant FoodWorks, where he was credited with narrowing the gap between strategy and execution and delivering recurring bottom-line improvements through process simplification, capital and cost optimization, and a sharpened operating model. His career includes leadership stints at Mastek and Sterlite, where he led enterprise-wide transformations across core operations, supply chain, and corporate functions, and implemented technology platforms to enable scalable growth.
This move underscores Tata Communications’ ambition to fuse technology leadership with tangible business outcomes. By appointing a transformation chief with hands-on experience across multi-year, cross-functional programs, the company signals a deliberate push to accelerate innovation, strengthen engineering capabilities, and drive value for customers and stakeholders. Tata Communications’ leadership, including MD & CEO Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, welcomes Sharma’s track record of driving large-scale changes that align technology with strategic priorities.
Sharma himself welcomed the opportunity, noting his excitement to join a legacy of innovation and to collaborate with teams across the organization to advance the company’s technology vision and operating model. His background spanning CIO roles and transformation leadership positions at renowned firms positions him to steer a broad-based transformation that touches core business operations, customer experience, and internal governance.
