The India Cements Limited has disclosed a leadership change on its board, with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) nominating Tribhuwan Adhikari as its Nominee Director, replacing Y Viswanatha Gowd whose term expires on 6 August 2026. The transition is set to take effect from 7 August 2026, subject to the approval of the company’s members. This move underscores LIC’s ongoing influence on the governance mix of Indian corporates through its nominee directors while ensuring continuity at the boardroom level for The India Cements.
Tribhuwan Adhikari brings a long and varied career with LIC, having joined as a direct recruit in the 17th batch in September 1989. His tenure spans marketing, branch management, and information technology, with assignments across Dehradun, Kanpur, Mumbai, and beyond. He has held senior roles including Chief Manager in-charge of multiple branches, Regional Manager in IT and New Business, and has experience overseeing technology and administrative functions in LIC’s operations. In recent years, he advanced to leadership roles outside LIC’s core insurance work, serving as Chief Operating Officer of LIC Housing Finance Limited from June 2023 and subsequently as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of LICHFL from August 2023, signaling a broad leadership footprint across the financial services landscape.
The board appointment for Adhikari is, however, conditioned on the requisite member approvals. Y Viswanatha Gowd steps down as LIC’s Nominee Director, making way for a director who could bring LIC’s governance perspective to The India Cements’ strategic direction. The development reflects LIC’s ongoing practice of appointing skilled professionals to complement the company’s leadership team and advance governance and oversight at a time of evolving market dynamics.
