In a move that underscores IRCON International Limited’s readiness to navigate leadership transitions, the company has announced that Saleem Ahmad will assume the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of IRCON from July 1, 2026. The appointment, effective for one year or until the regular incumbent steps into the role, whichever comes first, also designates him as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) of the company. The arrangement follows the Ministry of Railways order dated June 23, 2026 and was approved by IRCON’s Board at its meeting on June 26, 2026.
Saleem Ahmad brings a deep reservoir of infra project leadership to IRCON, with a civil engineering degree from Jamia Millia Islamia University and a career spanning more than 35 years in the construction and infrastructure space. He is currently the CMD of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, and has previously held senior roles including Director (Project) at NBCC (India) Ltd, Executive Director (Civil) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, and positions at Mumbai Port Trust. The breadth of his experience — from bridges and tunnels to last-mile connectivity — positions him to steer IRCON through a period of critical rail and infrastructure activity.
IRCON’s leadership change arrives at a time when the company continues to pursue large-scale rail infrastructure initiatives, and the fresh assignment signals a strategic alignment of leadership with the sector’s expansion plans. Ahmad’s appointment as CMD on an interim basis, coupled with his CEO and KMP designation, places him at the helm of executive decisions and governance as the company navigates upcoming projects and opportunities.
