In a board resolution circulated on March 31, 2026, IGL announced the appointment of Subhankar Sen as Chairman of the Company with effect from April 1, 2026, while Raj Kumar Dubey will step down from the chair from the same date. The company notes that under its Articles of Association, the promoter group—GAIL and BPCL—nominates the Chairman on a two-year rotational basis. The move follows the retirement-driven cue at BPCL that paved the way for Subhankar Sen to assume the leadership helm of IGL.
Subhankar Sen arrives at IGL with a profile steeped in marketing and consumer-facing energy businesses. Presently Director (Marketing) at BPCL, he has steered BPCL’s activities across retail, LPG, lubricants, aviation, industrial and consumer segments, while also driving energy-transition initiatives and digital-led customer experiences. His track record spans expanding market reach across India and beyond, building partnerships, and steering large-scale launches—from lubricant indigenisation programs to EV charging corridors—reflecting a leader steeped in transformation and growth. The outgoing chair, Raj Kumar Dubey, is noted to have assumed the role on May 1, 2025, and will exit as Subhankar Sen takes the helm due to the superannuation-related transition at BPCL.
