IDFC First Bank has announced the appointment of Shyamal Malhotra as Senior Management Personnel, effective September 22, 2026, following a recommendation by the bank’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee. The move signals the lender’s intent to bolster leadership across its corporate and wholesale banking verticals as it eyes deeper enterprise relationships and transformation-driven growth.
Malhotra brings more than 25 years of experience spanning corporate banking, business transformation, strategic growth and B2B commerce. His career includes leadership stints at Citibank, HSBC and Deutsche Bank, where he spent 22 years and rose to the position of Managing Director & Co-Head, Corporate Banking, India. In that role, he was responsible for client strategy, business expansion, risk management, partnerships and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. Most recently, he was associated with JSW, where he led the development of a scalable, customer-centric B2B e-commerce platform for its manufacturing business.
IDFC First Bank’s appointment of Malhotra underscores the lender’s emphasis on strengthening its corporate banking capabilities and digital-enabled client solutions. With a track record spanning traditional relationship banking to digital platforms and transformation programs, the new senior management appointment is positioned to help the bank deepen its relationships with large corporate and enterprise customers, while accelerating its broader strategic agenda in a competitive market. The bank’s leadership chorus appears to be reinforcing a clear message: ride growth by marrying deep sector expertise with modern, scalable client experiences.
