ICICI Lombard taps Shyam Srinivasan as Independent Director to bolster board governance

In a move aimed at strengthening governance, ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited said its Board has approved the appointment of Shyam Srinivasan as an Additional Non-Executive Independent Director for a five-year term from April 15, 2026 to April 14, 2031, subject to the Members’ approval at the upcoming AGM.

Srinivasan is a veteran banker and financial-services leader whose career spans more than three decades. He previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Federal Bank, where he led digital transformation, expanded the bank’s footprint, and fostered a culture of performance. Since retiring in 2024, he has remained active as Non-Executive Chairman of FedBank Financial Services and as a trusted advisor to select institutions. His accolades include Business Standard Banker of the Year (2020) and Forbes Icon of the Year (2025).

Industry observers see the appointment as a signal of ICICI Lombard’s intent to bring a strategy-focused, governance-minded perspective to its board. As an independent director with deep banking experience, Srinivasan could help sharpen oversight of strategy, risk, and stakeholder value as the insurer pursues growth and digital initiatives.

The company will place the formal appointment for Members’ approval at the AGM, after which Srinivasan would join the board as an Additional Director.
