Hindalco Elevates Kailash Pandey to CEO – Aluminium Upstream; Sameer Nayak to Exit SMP amid Org Revamp

Hindalco Industries Limited has announced a leadership reshuffle in its senior management with immediate effect, aiming to sharpen focus on its aluminium upstream operations. Kailash Pandey has been elevated to Chief Executive Officer – Aluminium Upstream, stepping up from his current role as Head – Mining and Sambalpur Cluster. A long‑time company veteran, Pandey joined Hindalco in 1995 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at the Renukoot Cluster and has since climbed through roles across the Renukoot and Sambalpur clusters, earning a reputation for driving operational excellence, delivering large‑scale projects, and strengthening performance. He is an Electrical Engineer and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2024.

In parallel, the company announced the cessation of Sameer Nayak as part of a broader change in organizational structure and reporting. Nayak will step down as part of the revised SMP framework, effective August 7, 2026. The changes reflect Hindalco’s ongoing effort to align its leadership bench with its strategic priorities while preserving continuity in operations and execution.

Taken together, the moves underscore Hindalco’s emphasis on internal leadership development and a clear mandate to strengthen upstream aluminium operations. Pandey’s elevation signals a continuity of an operations‑centric leadership approach, built on decades of hands‑on experience within Hindalco’s clusters and reinforced by formal executive training. Nayak’s departure, framed as a structural realignment, closes one chapter as the company places a renewed emphasis on its upstream strategy and performance targets.
