Greenply appoints Girish Kulkarni as Non-Executive Independent Director

Greenply Industries Limited has signaled a new chapter in its governance with the appointment of Girish Kulkarni as a Non-Executive Independent Director, effective July 24, 2026, for a five-year term, subject to shareholder approval. The move, approved by the board at its July 24 meeting, underscores Greenply’s commitment to strengthening its board with seasoned oversight and diverse strategic perspectives.

Girish Kulkarni brings four decades of leadership across the Asian insurance and financial services landscape. A founding member of the global strategy board of Dai-ichi Life and a former head of its Asia Pacific operations, he has steered joint ventures such as Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance and played a pivotal role in shaping SBI Life’s distribution architecture. His career also spans roles with GMAC and the Generali Group, offering a broad, global perspective on growth, governance and strategic execution.

In a related governance push, Greenply announced the amalgamation of Greenply Holdings Pte. Ltd., Singapore, with Greenply Global Trading Pte. Ltd. (formerly Greenply Alkema! (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.), Singapore, a step-down subsidiary. The company also reported the reclassification of certain promoter group members to Public Shareholder status, aligning ownership structure with streamlined governance practices and long-term strategic realignment.

Industry observers will be watching how Kulkarni’s independent perspective informs board deliberations as Greenply scales its operations and pursues growth both within and beyond its traditional markets. With a strengthened board and governance framework, Greenply aims to sustain momentum while prioritizing stakeholder interests.
