Gland Pharma Limited has named Deepak Sapra as its new Chief Executive Officer, with the appointment effective from November 16, 2026. The decision follows a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and marks a pivotal leadership handover as the company looks to chart a new phase of growth and global expansion. Sapra will join the Hyderabad-based pharma group after accepting the offer, stepping into a role that places him at the helm of strategic direction and execution.
Sapra arrives at Gland Pharma from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited (DRL), where he serves as Chief Executive Officer – API and Services and sits on the board of Aurigene Pharma Services. In his current capacity, he oversees a global portfolio strategy for a wide-ranging B2B business that spans generics, CDMO services, APIs, collaborations and public-health initiatives, with operations across major markets including the United States, the European Union, Japan, Brazil, China, and Africa. His career is marked by a track record of driving revenue growth, market entry and expansion, licensing and M&A, and portfolio creation across diverse regions and segments of the pharmaceutical value chain.
Before DRL, Sapra led a global CDMO operation as Chief Executive Officer – Custom Pharmaceutical Services and held senior roles in generics business development and portfolio management. His background encompasses partnerships, supply chain, R&D, and international business management, underpinned by degrees in mechanical engineering and management, along with Chevening and Fulbright fellowships. The appointment signals Gland Pharma’s intent to deepen its CDMO and API footprint while pursuing broader access-led initiatives in global markets.
