GCPL reshapes leadership as Malbari named MD & CEO; Vishal Kedia named Interim CFO

Godrej Consumer Products Limited is shaking up its leadership, with an internal reshuffle designed to steer growth as the company moves into a new phase. In a board meeting on August 11, 2026, GCPL announced that Aasif Malbari will be elevated to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a five-year term starting August 12, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. At the same time, Malbari will step down from his current post as Chief Financial Officer. The board also acknowledged Sudhir Sitapati’s resignation from the role of MD & CEO, effective August 11, 2026, and thanked him for his five-year stewardship.

Into the interim frame, the board named Vishal Kedia as Interim Chief Financial Officer, effective August 12, 2026. Kedia will continue to oversee his existing duties as Head-Strategy, FP&A and Investor Relations, ensuring continuity as GCPL completes its search for a permanent CFO. He will also join the board’s Risk Management Committee, reinforcing the governance layer during the transition.

Both moves reflect GCPL’s emphasis on internal growth engines. Aasif Malbari has spent three decades across FMCG and automotive businesses, including leadership roles at Tata Motors and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, and currently heads GCPL’s finances as CFO before this appointment. Vishal Kedia has been with the Godrej Group since 2016, driving global strategy, financial planning and analysis and investor relations, with stints across GCPL’s India, Africa, Latin America and Indonesia businesses. The company’s leadership shake-up, alongside the addition of Kedia to the governance fold, signals a thoughtful succession plan built on deep internal knowledge and a track record of transformation.

Industry watchers will watch closely how GCPL leverages this continuity to accelerate growth in core markets while expanding new ones. The announcements also underscore GCPL’s preference for leadership from within the group, aiming to preserve momentum as it navigates a shifting consumer landscape.
