Fortis Healthcare is placing continuity at the top of its leadership agenda. The board has recommended the re-appointment of Ashutosh Raghuvanshi as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a further two-year term starting March 19, 2027. The decision, taken at the board meeting on July 8, 2026, is subject to shareholder approval, signaling a vote of confidence in a leader who has steered Fortis through a period of growth amid a dynamic health care landscape.
Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, aged 64, brings a long arc of experience in Indian healthcare. He holds an MBBS and an MS in General Surgery from the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha, and an M.Ch. in Cardiac Surgery from the Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences. He currently serves as Fortis’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer and has accumulated more than 38 years in the sector. Before joining Fortis, he spent over 18 years with Narayana Health in senior roles including Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, a track record that the board says underpins his capacity to drive strategy and execution.
Raghuvanshi’s leadership has been marked by his blend of clinical insight and administrative acumen. He is actively engaged with industry bodies such as CII, FICCI and NATHEALTH, having served as NATHEALTH president from 2023 to 2024, and his work has been recognized with national and international awards across the healthcare landscape. The board noted that he is not debarred from accessing capital markets, underscoring a compliant and credible governance profile as Fortis seeks to advance its growth agenda.
Fortis’s affirmation of Raghuvanshi’s leadership comes as the company eyes ongoing expansion and a focus on patient-centric growth. While the appointment awaits shareholder sign-off, the market will be watching how this period of continuity translates into Fortis’s strategic priorities, from service quality to scale across its hospital network.
