Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has announced changes in its senior management, marking a transition as part of its ongoing leadership evolution. Senior Management will see Shri Y Srinivasa Rao, Executive Director (HPEP), Hyderabad, superannuating from the company on 24 September 2026, closing a chapter in BHEL’s Hyderabad operations.
To fill the gap, BHEL has appointed Shri Chimouj Gowri Shankar, General Manager & Head (HPVP), Visakhapatnam, as the new Head of Heavy Plate & Vessels Plant (HPVP), Visakhapatnam, with effect from 25 September 2026. He will report to the Director (IS & P). The move underscores BHEL’s emphasis on internal leadership progression for managing its core manufacturing assets.
Chimouj Gowri Shankar brings a long-standing tenure with BHEL, having joined in 1992 and bringing 34 years of service to his new role. His educational background includes a B.Tech in Computer Science. As the new head of HPVP, he will oversee operations at a critical plant that forms a key pillar of BHEL’s heavy plate and vessel production capabilities, reinforcing the company’s focus on continuity and in-house leadership development.
The changes reflect a broader pattern of succession planning within BHEL, highlighting the company’s reliance on experienced leaders to steward strategic manufacturing functions. With Gowri Shankar assuming the helm at HPVP, Visakhapatnam, BHEL aims to maintain momentum across its heavy engineering portfolio while continuing to cultivate deep internal leadership bench strength.
