Avalon Technologies Expands Independent Board, Extends MD Tenure

Avalon Technologies Limited has announced a governance shake-up, underscoring its commitment to strengthening board oversight while ensuring leadership continuity. The board has approved the appointment of CG Balaji as an Additional Director in the Independent category for a term of five consecutive years, commencing September 3, 2026, subject to shareholder approval. Balaji brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise technology governance, digital transformation, AI strategy, and risk management, with leadership stints at global firms such as Databricks, Palo Alto Networks, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Deloitte Consulting. The move signals an emphasis on rigorous governance and robust internal controls at a time of strategic growth for the company.

In parallel, Avalon’s leadership team will remain anchored by long-standing executive stewardship. The Board has re-appointed Kunhamed Bicha as Chairman and Managing Director for another five-year term, effective July 12, 2027. Bicha, a founder of the company’s promoter group and former CEO of Sienna, brings a blend of engineering insight and entrepreneurial leadership to Avalon’s growth agenda, a combination the board views as pivotal for executing its future business plans.

The governance renewal extends beyond the executive suite with fresh terms for independent observers. Venkataramani Anantharamakrishnan has been re-appointed as an Independent Director for a second five-year term starting July 7, 2027, bringing his track record as Managing Director of IP Rings Limited and his broader board experience to Avalon’s oversight framework. Similarly, Byas Unnikrishnan Nambisan will continue as an Independent Director for a second five-year term from July 19, 2027, leveraging his background in technology, operations, and strategic leadership, including roles at Intel, Ezetap, and Razorpay. Taken together, the moves reinforce Avalon’s emphasis on continuity, external governance, and strategic direction as it navigates its next phase of growth.
