Aurobindo Pharma Limited’s board has approved the re-appointment of Mangalam Ramasubramanian Kumar as a Non-executive and Independent Director for a second five-year term beginning April 1, 2027, with the first term concluding on March 31, 2027. The move, taken at a November 4, 2026 meeting and subject to member approval through a postal ballot, reinforces the company’s commitment to board continuity and governance depth. Kumar is not related to any director or key managerial personnel, and the company confirms he is not debarred from holding office by SEBI or any authority. The decision aligns with a standard governance process in which the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation guides the board’s approach ahead of member vote.
Kumar’s career spans more than three and a half decades in the financial services sector. A science graduate from the University of Madras, he served as Chairman of LIC of India from 2019 to 2023, after joining LIC in 1983 as a Direct Recruit Officer. In LIC, he headed three zones—Southern, North Central and Northern—while also leading the Personnel Department and the Pension and Group Insurance vertical as an Executive Director. His tenure has been marked by governance and policy initiatives across administrative, marketing, group and social security domains, equipping him with a broad view of organizational processes and risk management.
Beyond LIC, Kumar remains active in governance roles, currently serving on the boards of Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited and Aurobindo Pharma Usa Inc., and as Non-Executive Chairman of Bank of India. This blend of public-sector leadership experience and current board-level oversight across financial services and corporate governance is anticipated to complement Aurobindo Pharma’s strategic ambitions as it navigates an evolving healthcare landscape. The company will seek member approval via postal ballot for the continued governance leadership at the board level.
