AIA Engineering’s Chairman Rajendra S. Shah resigns after nearly 19-year board tenure

Rajendra S. Shah, who has served as Director and Chairman of AIA Engineering Limited since July 31, 2007, has tendered his resignation from the board, effective at the close of business on 20 April 2026. In a letter to the Board, he cited his expanding involvement in philanthropic activities as the reason for stepping away, and he requested that his resignation be accepted as both Director and Chairman, including his seat on the CSR Committee. He also noted that there is no material reason for his departure beyond these commitments.

Shah’s long tenure — spanning nearly two decades — has seen him contribute to governance and strategic oversight during a period of growth for the company. In his note, he thanked the Board for the “memorable association” and his time as Chairman, signaling a personal milestone in his career as he shifts focus to philanthropy.

With Shah’s exit, the board will now chart the path forward to appoint a successor and ensure a smooth transition. The resignation letter also asks the company to submit the requisite filings with the Registrar of Companies and stock exchanges to formalize the change. AIA Engineering did not disclose a timeline for the appointment of a new chairman, but the market will be watching closely for updates on governance and leadership continuity.
