AGI Greenpac to appoint Shashvat Somany as Director and Joint Managing Director, signaling next-gen leadership

In a move that signals a planned, orderly transition in AGI Greenpac Limited’s leadership, the board has recommended to shareholders the appointment of Shashvat Somany as a Director and, further, as the Joint Managing Director of the company, designated as a Whole-time Key Managerial Personnel, for a five-year term beginning 1 October 2026. The recommendation follows the Nomination & Remuneration Committee’s input and comes with retirement by rotation provisions, underscoring a structured path for continued governance and strategic direction.

Shashvat Somany is currently the Head of Strategy at AGI Greenpac and is the founder of Tattva, the group’s corporate venture capital platform. He holds an MBA in Tech & Analytics from London Business School and a BA in Economics and Psychology from UCLA, bringing a blend of strategy, analytics and entrepreneurial experience to the top job. Notably, he is the son of Sandip Somany, the Chairman & Managing Director, and Sumita Somany, a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director, highlighting a long-standing family footprint in the company’s leadership tapestry.

The board’s move to elevate Shashvat Somany to Joint Managing Director reflects a deliberate succession philosophy, aligning family-led continuity with formal executive governance. As the appointment progresses toward shareholder approval, he will cease to be a Senior Management Personnel of the Company with effect from 1 October 2026, signaling a transition into an expanded scope of responsibility. While the company also notes an upcoming revision to the Notice of the 66th AGM to accommodate additional agenda items, the broader narrative remains one of reinforcing strategic leadership from within the organization.

The development places a spotlight on AGI Greenpac’s ongoing integration of strategic leadership with execution capability, a combination that could influence the company’s trajectory across its packaging and related businesses. By elevating a homegrown strategy leader to the helm, AGI Greenpac signals a confidence in internal talent to drive growth, innovation and long-term value creation for shareholders and stakeholders alike.
