UCO Bank elevates Rajeev Gupta to Chief Risk Officer as Shashi Kant Kumar shifts to Zonal Head, Mumbai

UCO Bank has announced a leadership reshuffle, naming Rajeev Gupta as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) with effect from April 14, 2026, while Shashi Kant Kumar moves to a new assignment as Zonal Head, Mumbai. The move underscores the bank’s emphasis on strengthening risk governance through internal leadership transitions, bringing a familiar face to the CRO role as the bank sustains its focus on robust risk oversight.

Rajeev Gupta, 51, brings nearly three decades of banking experience to the CRO post. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce, a Master of Business Administration in Finance, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking, along with certifications such as CAIIB and a Treasury, Investment and Risk Management credential from the IIBF. In his 29-year career, Gupta has served across branches, overseas centres, zonal offices, and corporate departments, with a track record spanning risk management, overseas operations, and core banking functions. Prior to this appointment, he was General Manager at UCO Bank.

Shashi Kant Kumar will transition to the role of Zonal Head, Mumbai, and has been relieved from his CRO responsibilities as of the close of business today. The internal reallocation reflects UCO Bank’s approach to aligning leadership capabilities with strategic risk governance, while maintaining continuity within its senior management team.
