In a leadership pivot at Mahanagar Gas Limited, Praveer Kumar Srivastava has been named as Additional Director and Managing Director, effective from April 30, 2026, for a five-year term ending April 29, 2031 (or until further order from GAIL, whichever is earlier), subject to the approval of shareholders. The appointment follows a recommendation by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and will see Srivastava join the board as an executive leader, taking chair of key committees from day one. In parallel, Ashu Shinghal will cease to be the company’s Managing Director from April 30, 2026, after a GAIL nomination withdrawal letter dated March 10, 2026, marking the end of his tenure in that role.
Srivastava brings more than three decades of experience from GAIL (India) Limited, where he built a reputation across operations, maintenance, and project execution of gas processing units and pipelines. A chemical engineer from IIT Kharagpur and a certified Energy Auditor, he has held senior roles spanning Planning, Strategy & Advocacy, Business Development, and the C&MD Secretariat at GAIL Corporate Office. Notably, he oversaw GAIL’s ambitious green-energy initiatives—such as one of India’s largest Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Green Hydrogen plants at Vijaipur, a hydrogen-blending pilot project, and the launch of a Small-Scale LNG project—underpinning a robust clean-energy agenda. Currently, he leads GAIL’s Western Region as Executive Director, directing operations, maintenance, and marketing across a strategically vital gas transmission corridor that connects major LNG terminals with downstream load centers.
His appointment signals a continuity-driven transition for MGL as it navigates the evolving energy landscape, leveraging Srivastava’s track record in safety, reliability, and strategic growth. While awaiting shareholder clearance, the board underscored the importance of leadership stability to sustain MGL’s gas distribution network and growth ambitions across western India.
