Canara Bank has announced a leadership reshuffle that sees five General Managers elevated to Chief General Managers, with the promotion taking effect from 1 April 2026. The internal move signals a deliberate refresh of the bank’s executive layer, spanning Circle offices, a technology services wing, and key business verticals, as Canara continues to align its leadership with broader strategic aims.
Subodh Kumar, currently Chief General Manager on deputation to LIC of India as Chief Vigilance Officer, is promoted within the bank to CGM. He brings a background that includes M.Sc, MBA, Composite Insurance Certification and CAIIB, with extensive experience across Large Corporate, International Division, Regional Offices and Head Office operations. R Rajesh, CGM for the Credit & Prepaid Cards Vertical and head of the Technology Services Wing at the Bengaluru head office, also moves up to the CGM rank, underscoring the bank’s emphasis on integrating digital banking with core credit capabilities.
The bank also spots leadership strength outside traditional branches in Sreekant M Bhandiwad, CGM, who is on deputation to Karnataka Gramina Bank as Chairman, and I Panduranga Mithanthaya, CGM and Tirupati Circle Head, who brings more than three decades of experience across London Branch, regional offices and circle offices. Manoj Kumar Das, CGM and Chandigarh Circle Head, completes the promotions, bringing 37-plus years of banking experience and qualifications that include B.Sc and CAIIB, along with leadership across multiple Circle Offices and a focus on Gold Loan vertical at the head office level.
Taken together, the promotions reflect Canara Bank’s ongoing emphasis on strengthening its executive bench from within, ensuring continuity across its diverse operating footprint. With these five executives stepping into Chief General Manager roles, Canara aims to bolster leadership depth across circles, verticals and strategic functions as it navigates an evolving banking landscape.
