IDFC FIRST Bank elevates Hardik Thaker to CISO as Nitin Chauhan steps down

In a measured leadership reshuffle at IDFC FIRST Bank, Hardik Thaker has been appointed Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and designated as Senior Management Personnel, with effect from October 30, 2026, following the resignation of Nitin Chauhan. The bank notes Chauhan’s last working day will be April 23, 2027, signaling a careful transition as the institution doubles down on its cybersecurity agenda.

Thaker is currently the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at IDFC FIRST Bank, where he leads the bank’s cybersecurity transformation initiatives. With nearly two decades of experience across banking, financial services, regulatory bodies and global consulting, his remit spans cybersecurity transformation, AI, cyber risk, cyber resilience and cloud security. His previous roles include Executive Director, Enterprise Security & Resilience at GXS Bank in Singapore, and senior security leadership at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, IBM, Deloitte and KPMG, among others. He has contributed to industry forums, including associations with the Association of Banks in Singapore and ISACA, and holds professional credentials such as CISM and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, along with an MBA in Finance and a mechanical engineering degree.

The internal elevation underscores IDFC FIRST Bank’s emphasis on continuity as it pursues its cybersecurity and digital transformation journey. By promoting from within, the bank signals a preference for a leader who already understands its risk landscape, technology stack and culture, even as Chauhan moves on to pursue opportunities outside the bank.

As the bank continues to bolster its information-security posture, Thaker’s deep expertise in security strategy, cloud adoption and resilience will be central to navigating evolving cyber threats and regulatory expectations. The leadership transition highlights IDFC FIRST Bank’s commitment to robust governance and responsible innovation in a rapidly changing financial services environment.
