HeidelbergCement India elevates Anu Mehta to Senior Management HR role as Poonam Sharma retires

HeidelbergCement India Limited is reshaping its leadership bench in the HR function. The company’s board approved the appointment of Anu Mehta as Senior Management Personnel (SMP) with effect from December 1, 2026, to succeed Poonam Sharma, who will superannuate on November 30, 2026. The move, recommended by the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, signals a continuity-driven approach to human resources leadership at the cement-maker’s India arm.

Anu Mehta brings more than three decades of strategic HR experience, with a career spanning roles at Honda Cars India Limited and Honda Motor India since 2004. Her breadth covers corporate HR, sales HR, factory HR, and functions including organizational development, leadership development, succession planning, and CSR. She holds an MBA in Finance/Human Resources from Spicer Memorial College, Pune, and a B.Sc. (Honours) from the University of Delhi, underscoring a blend of financial and people-centric leadership. Her appointment is designed to align HR strategy with HeidelbergCement India’s growth agenda as the company navigates evolving labour and workplace norms.

The transition comes in the wake of Ms. Sharma’s impending departure and reflects the company’s emphasis on strengthening senior management through internal succession. Mehta’s mandate, as described by the company, encompasses driving manpower planning, governance of HR processes, and shaping leadership development initiatives that drive organizational change and engagement across the workforce. In a sector where talent and culture increasingly shape performance, HeidelbergCement India appears intent on anchoring its people strategy at the senior-most level.

As the company looks ahead, stakeholders will be watching how Mehta’s leadership translates into talent strategies, employee engagement, and CSR-aligned initiatives that support sustainable growth. The HR function, long a differentiator in manufacturing, is poised to play a central role in HeidelbergCement India’s next phase of transformation and value creation.
