Indian Bank has announced a leadership change on its board, with the Central Government nominating a new Director and the exit of the previous appointee. In an update to the exchange, the bank said that Ms. Manasa Gangotri Kata has been nominated as Director on its Board with immediate effect and until further orders, replacing Shri Samir Kumar. The appointment takes effect from 23 October 2026.
Ms. Manasa Gangotri Kata will serve as a Government of India Nominee Director on the bank’s Board, reflecting the continued role of public-sector representation in governance at Indian Bank. The bank also confirmed that Ms. Kata assumed the office of Director on 23 October 2026, while Shri Samir Kumar ceased to be a Director from the same date.
The bank noted that Ms. Manasa Gangotri Kata, as a GOI Nominee Director, is not related to the bank’s other directors and is not debarred from holding the office of Director by SEBI or any other authority. A brief profile of the new Director is expected to be submitted in due course.
This board-level change underscores the ongoing alignment between the government’s oversight role and the bank’s strategic governance, as Indian Bank continues to balance public ownership with professional leadership to steer its path ahead.
